DON'T DRINK IT!

"DON'T DRINK IT!"

The scream ripped through the grand ballroom like a gunshot.

Every conversation stopped.

Every head turned.

Daniel Harrison, the groom, froze with a crystal glass of orange juice inches from his lips.

Before he could take a sip, a woman in a black maid's uniform hurled herself across the dance floor.

She slammed into his arm.

CRASH!

The glass exploded against the marble floor.

Orange liquid splashed across the bride's white wedding gown and soaked the polished shoes of the groom.

The orchestra fell silent.

Hundreds of guests stared beneath the golden chandeliers.

Daniel looked at the maid in disbelief.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

The bride, Emily Carter, stood frozen.

Her bouquet trembled in her hands.

The maid could barely breathe through her sobs.

A pearl earring shook against her neck as she raised a phone toward the crowd.

"No one drink anything," she cried.

The room held its breath.

A video began playing.

A hand appeared on the screen.

The hand opened a small white packet.

White powder poured into a glass of orange juice.

The exact same orange juice Daniel had almost consumed.

Gasps erupted across the ballroom.

Daniel's face drained of color.

Emily whispered, "No..."

The maid looked at her with tears streaming down her face.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I never wanted to ruin your wedding."

Daniel grabbed the phone.

His eyes widened.

His hands began shaking.

"No..."

The person in the video was unmistakable.

It was Emily's mother.

Victoria Carter.

The wealthy businesswoman who had paid for the entire wedding.

The woman everyone respected.

The woman standing only twenty feet away.

The ballroom exploded into chaos.

"That's impossible!"

"Someone call the police!"

Victoria's face twisted with rage.

"You stupid woman!" she screamed at the maid.

The crowd fell silent again.

That was all the confirmation anyone needed.

Emily staggered backward.

"Mom..."

Victoria immediately switched tones.

"Sweetheart, she's lying."

But Emily wasn't listening anymore.

The evidence was right there.

Daniel stared at his future mother-in-law.

"Why?"

Victoria's eyes hardened.

For a moment, the mask slipped.

Then she laughed.

A cold laugh.

"Because you were never supposed to marry my daughter."

The room gasped.

Emily looked horrified.

"What are you talking about?"

Victoria pointed directly at Daniel.

"He's not one of us."

Daniel clenched his fists.

Victoria continued.

"You think I spent thirty years building this family's fortune so my daughter could hand it over to a man who came from nothing?"

Emily looked physically sick.

"You tried to poison him?"

Victoria shrugged.

"It would've looked like a heart attack."

Several guests backed away from her.

The maid began crying harder.

Daniel turned toward her.

"Why help me now?"

The woman covered her mouth.

Her entire body shook.

"Because I can't keep living with this."

Victoria's expression suddenly changed.

Pure fear flashed across her face.

The maid noticed it.

And finally understood.

Victoria wasn't afraid of being arrested.

She was afraid of what came next.

The maid slowly looked at Daniel.

Tears poured down her cheeks.

"She promised me something."

Daniel frowned.

"What?"

The maid's voice cracked.

"She said if I stayed quiet... she'd finally tell me where my son was."

Emily blinked.

"Your son?"

The woman nodded.

"My baby disappeared twenty-eight years ago."

The room became silent again.

The maid turned toward Daniel.

Then she whispered words that shattered everyone's reality.

"The baby they told me died..."

She pointed directly at him.

"...was you."

Daniel stopped breathing.

Emily nearly collapsed.

"What?"

The maid was sobbing uncontrollably now.

"I worked for this family when I was nineteen."

Victoria closed her eyes.

The truth was finally coming.

The maid continued.

"I got pregnant. The father abandoned me."

"When my son was born, they told me he died during the night."

Daniel felt the room spinning.

"No..."

The maid nodded.

"I believed them."

Victoria suddenly shouted.

"Stop talking!"

But nobody was listening anymore.

The maid pointed at Victoria.

"She took my baby."

The ballroom erupted.

Victoria's husband, Richard Carter, slowly sat down in shock.

"You told me the child was dead too."

Victoria said nothing.

Richard looked sick.

"You lied to me for twenty-eight years?"

Finally Victoria broke.

"Because I couldn't have children!"

The confession echoed through the ballroom.

Tears streamed down her face.

"I wanted a son."

Everyone stared.

Victoria continued screaming.

"So I took him!"

The room exploded.

Police officers arrived minutes later after multiple guests had called 911.

Victoria was arrested in front of everyone.

But the greatest shock came months later.

DNA tests confirmed everything.

Daniel Harrison was the maid's biological son.

The woman who had spent decades cleaning houses was his real mother.

The woman who had raised him was gone.

But his true family had been standing right in front of him all along.

A year later, Daniel and Emily finally got married.

This time in a small ceremony by the ocean.

No lies.

No secrets.

No billion-dollar guests.

Just people who loved them.

As Daniel walked his mother down the aisle before the ceremony, she squeezed his hand.

For twenty-eight years she thought her child was dead.

For twenty-eight years he never knew who she was.

Now they finally had what had been stolen from them.

A family.

And as the sun set behind the waves, Daniel realized something.

The woman who tried to destroy his life had lost everything.

May you like

The woman who risked everything to save him had gained her son back.

And that was the kind of justice money could never buy.
