The Giant's Bow

A scarred giant stormed into the royal arena, his footsteps shaking the stone beneath thousands of horrified spectators. The rival king grew pale, unaware that none of the champions in his kingdom could survive a monster like this. Then a young boy ran into the dust and stood before him with empty hands. The crowd laughed... until the king rose from his throne and whispered, "That boy... is my son." But when the child raised his hand, the giant suddenly lowered his head...
Silence swept across the arena like a cold wind.
The laughter died instantly.
Even the birds circling above the castle towers seemed to stop their cries.
The giant remained bowed, his massive frame trembling.
The boy stood calmly before him.
His clothes were simple, and there was not a single weapon at his side.
The rival king stared in disbelief.
"What trick is this?" he demanded.
No one answered.
The scarred giant slowly dropped to one knee.
Gasps echoed from every corner of the arena.
The giant's eyes, which had terrified armies across three kingdoms, filled with emotion.
"My prince," he said in a voice like distant thunder.
The crowd erupted into confusion.
The king's son frowned.
"I am no prince," the boy replied.
"You are," the giant answered softly.
"You simply do not remember."
The king descended from his throne.
His face had become as pale as winter snow.
He knew a secret he had hidden for many years.
A secret buried beneath war, betrayal, and blood.
"Stop speaking," the king ordered.
The giant looked up.
"I cannot, Your Majesty."
"The truth has waited too long."
The spectators watched breathlessly.
The giant rose to his full height.
Years of scars crossed his body like old maps.
"I served your father," he told the boy.
"I swore an oath to protect his bloodline."
The boy blinked.
"My father is standing right there."
The giant shook his head.
"No."
The word struck the arena harder than any sword.
The king closed his eyes.
For a moment, he looked like a defeated man.
"The giant speaks the truth," he finally said.
Shock swept through the crowd.
The boy stepped back.
"What do you mean?"
The king took a slow breath.
"Sixteen years ago, your real father ruled the Northern Realm."
"He was my brother."
The boy's world seemed to tilt.
The king continued.
"A rebellion destroyed his kingdom."
"Your parents were killed."
"I found you among the ruins."
"I raised you as my own son."
Tears appeared in the boy's eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because your enemies survived," the king answered.
"They searched for you for years."
The giant nodded.
"I hunted them across the world."
"And now only one remains."
A dark voice suddenly echoed through the arena.
"Then your hunt ends today."
A figure in black armor appeared atop the arena wall.
Shadows curled around him like living snakes.
The crowd screamed.
The air grew colder.
The giant immediately stepped in front of the boy.
The stranger laughed.
"After all these years, I have finally found the last heir."
The king drew his sword.
Guards rushed forward.
Yet none of them dared approach the armored figure.
The giant clenched his fists.
Stone cracked beneath his feet.
"You will not touch him," he growled.
The stranger raised a black blade.
"I have already touched his destiny."
Dark clouds gathered above the arena.
Lightning flashed across the sky.
The boy felt something awaken inside him.
A strange warmth spread through his chest.
Golden light began to shine from his hands.
The giant turned and smiled.
For the first time, the terrible warrior looked at peace.
"There it is," he whispered.
"The power of the Northern Kings."
The golden light expanded.
The shadows recoiled.
The enemy's confident smile vanished.
The crowd watched in awe as the boy stepped forward.
No longer frightened.
No longer confused.
The child who had entered the arena empty-handed was gone.
