The Lost Prince of Valdoria

The crowd roared as the iron gates of the Royal Arena groaned open.

Thousands of spectators packed the marble stands beneath the golden banners of Valdoria, the greatest kingdom on the continent. Nobles draped in silk watched from elevated balconies while commoners fought for a glimpse of the blood-soaked sands below.

Today was the final day of the King's Tournament.

And today, someone would die.

A trumpet sounded.

The announcer stepped forward.

"Entering from the Eastern Gate... the challenger known only as the Scarred Boy!"

Laughter erupted across the arena.

A thin boy walked into the sunlight.

His clothes were torn and stained with dust. His boots were barely held together by strips of leather. Long brown hair covered part of his face, and a faded scar stretched across his left shoulder, disappearing beneath the ragged fabric.

He looked no older than sixteen.

The audience mocked him immediately.

"A beggar?"

"Did they lose a servant and send him here by mistake?"

"He won't survive a minute."

The boy ignored every insult.

His gray eyes remained fixed on the opposite gate.

The massive iron doors began to shake.

A deep growl echoed throughout the arena.

Silence fell.

Everyone knew what waited behind those doors.

The King's Beast.

A monster no gladiator had ever defeated.

The chains snapped.

The gates exploded outward.

A gigantic creature charged into the arena.

Black scales covered its body. Crimson eyes burned like molten fire. Rows of jagged teeth lined its enormous jaws.

A Dragon-Scale Beast.

Part dragon. Part nightmare.

The creature stood nearly twenty feet tall.

Women screamed.

Children hid their faces.

Even veteran warriors paled at the sight.

The beast lowered its head and stared at the ragged boy.

The king leaned forward on his throne.

King Aldric of Valdoria smiled coldly.

"This should be entertaining."

The beast attacked.

Its claws tore through the sand as it lunged forward.

The crowd expected the boy to be ripped apart instantly.

Instead, he moved.

Like lightning.

He rolled beneath the creature's first strike and grabbed a fallen spear from a previous match.

The audience gasped.

The spear flashed.

A shallow cut appeared on the monster's leg.

The Dragon-Scale Beast roared in fury.

For nearly ten minutes the battle continued.

The boy dodged every attack.

Every leap.

Every claw.

Every blast of scorching breath.

Again and again he struck the creature's weak points.

The crowd's laughter slowly disappeared.

Something was wrong.

This wasn't luck.

The boy fought like royalty.

Like someone trained by the finest warriors in the kingdom.

The king noticed it too.

His smile vanished.

Then the impossible happened.

The beast managed to slash the boy's shoulder.

His shirt tore apart.

The old scar became visible.

A strange symbol surrounded the wound.

A silver mark.

The Royal Crest of Valdoria.

King Aldric stood abruptly.

His eyes widened.

"No..."

The queen gasped beside him.

"It can't be."

The symbol had not been seen in sixteen years.

Not since the disappearance of Prince Lucien.

The lost heir to the throne.

The entire arena fell silent.

The boy looked toward the royal balcony.

For the first time, anger appeared in his eyes.

"You recognize it."

The king's face turned pale.

The crowd looked between them in confusion.

The boy tightened his grip on the spear.

"My name is not Scarred Boy."

The wind swept across the arena.

"My name is Lucien Valdoria."

Whispers spread through the stands like wildfire.

"The lost prince?"

"Impossible!"

"He died years ago!"

Lucien pointed the spear directly at the king.

"I survived the attack that murdered my mother."

The audience froze.

"You told the kingdom bandits killed the queen."

His voice echoed across the arena.

"But it was you."

King Aldric's expression hardened.

Guards immediately surrounded the royal balcony.

"Seize him!" the king shouted.

No one moved.

Too many people were watching.

Too many had heard.

Lucien turned back toward the Dragon-Scale Beast.

The monster snarled.

Blood dripped from dozens of wounds.

For a moment, prince and beast stared at each other.

Then something unexpected happened.

The creature lowered its head.

Not in aggression.

In submission.

Gasps swept through the arena.

Ancient legends spoke of the royal bloodline of Valdoria possessing a forgotten gift.

The ability to command dragon-kind.

A power believed extinct.

Until now.

Lucien gently placed a hand against the beast's scaled forehead.

The monster became calm instantly.

The crowd erupted.

The lost prince had proven his identity.

Not with words.

But with power.

King Aldric drew his sword.

"You should have stayed dead!"

Before anyone could react, the king leaped from the balcony onto the arena floor.

Dark magic surrounded his blade.

The truth was finally revealed.

Aldric had never been the rightful king.

He had stolen the throne.

And sixteen years ago, he had attempted to kill the royal family.

Lucien stepped forward.

The Dragon-Scale Beast stood beside him.

Man and monster.

Prince and dragon.

Together.

The final battle began.

Steel clashed.

Magic exploded.

Sand flew into the air.

Aldric fought with the desperation of a man who knew his reign was ending.

But destiny had waited sixteen years for this moment.

At last, Lucien disarmed him.

The king fell to his knees.

The arena watched in complete silence.

Lucien raised his sword.

Then lowered it.

"A true king does not rule through fear."

The guards, seeing the truth, surrounded Aldric instead.

The usurper was arrested.

The crowd erupted louder than ever before.

"LONG LIVE THE PRINCE!"

"LONG LIVE LUCIEN!"

The chant spread throughout the arena.

Thousands of voices.

One kingdom.

One rightful heir.

As the sun set over Valdoria, Lucien stood in the center of the arena beside the Dragon-Scale Beast.

The same crowd that had laughed at the ragged boy now cheered for their prince.

A prince who had entered the arena wearing torn clothes.

A prince marked by scars.

A prince everyone believed was lost.

But legends are not born in palaces.

They are forged in the arena.

And on that day, the Lost Prince of Valdoria reclaimed both his name and his kingdom.

The age of the true king had begun.
