Trump Activates “Level 3” — Something Serious Just Happened 1

Taylor Fresh Foods, the parent company of major produce supplier Taylor Farms, has voluntarily recalled multiple products containing jalapeños over concerns of possible Salmonella contamination.

The move comes just weeks after Taylor Farms de Mexico voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico and linked to a multistate Cyclospora outbreak.

The latest action followed notification that Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling its fresh jalapeños due to potential Salmonella risks.

Taylor Farms products affected include prepared items such as guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip.

These were shipped to retail distribution centers across numerous states and carry “Best If Used By” dates through Aug. 16, 2026.

Major retailers that received the products include Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart.

Federal health authorities, including the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections connected to fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.

Investigators identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico—a supplier to Coast Citrus—as the likely source of the outbreak.

Taylor Fresh Foods stated it has stopped sourcing from that Mexican grower and is now obtaining jalapeños from alternative suppliers.

The company reported it is not aware of any illnesses tied specifically to its own jalapeño-containing products.

This recall highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in the American food supply chain, which relies heavily on imports from Mexico.

Fresh produce outbreaks linked to foreign growers have become a recurring problem, raising questions about the effectiveness of inspection protocols and border screening for agricultural products.

Consumers who prioritize food safety have long called for stronger domestic sourcing and stricter standards on imported goods that repeatedly appear in contamination investigations.

Anyone who purchased the recalled items is urged to throw them away immediately and avoid consuming them.

Refunds can be obtained at the original place of purchase.

Salmonella infection typically causes symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps within hours to a few days of exposure.

While most healthy people recover without treatment, the bacteria can pose serious risks to young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

The fact that investigators traced the likely source of the outbreak to a Mexican farm raises questions about accountability in the global produce trade that supplies American grocery stores and restaurants.

Taylor Farms has faced successive recalls in recent weeks involving different pathogens and Mexican-sourced ingredients.

First, there was Cyclospora in lettuce.

Now, jalapeños have been linked to a Salmonella outbreak.
