PART 3: THE MIDNIGHT ESCAPE

The chaos inside the VIP lounge of the gala had given Elena the fraction of a second she needed. While Victor was distracted by a panicked security team dealing with an uninvited media outburst, Elena bolted through the service exit, kicking off her high heels as the rain poured down onto the dark city streets. With no shoes, bleeding feet, and only her ruined red dress to protect her from the freezing downpour, she had run blindly into the alleyways.
She had managed to dial Richard’s emergency number just before her phone battery flickered on low power. Within minutes, Richard’s sedan had intercepted her near a shadowy street corner, pulling up just as Victor’s security guards began searching the blocks around the venue.
Now, sitting in the sanctuary of the moving car, the weight of survival began to settle into Elena’s bones. She looked down at her scraped feet and the torn red sequins. "He’s going to come after us, Richard," she whispered, her voice cracking with lingering terror. "Victor owns half the city. The police, the judges... everyone is in his pocket."
Richard turned his head, his gaze softening with empathy, though the fierce fire in his eyes remained entirely unquenched. He reached out and gently placed a reassuring hand over her trembling fingers.

"Let him try," Richard said firmly. "Victor thinks his money makes him untouchable. But he doesn't know what we’ve been building behind the scenes. Tonight wasn't the end of your story, Elena. It was the night his empire started to crumble."
The phone on the seat continued to flash silently, displaying a call from an unknown number—or perhaps Victor himself, frantically trying to lock down his runaway prize before his secrets went public. Richard picked up the phone, silenced the ringer with a cold swipe, and tossed it into the glove compartment, plunging the cabin into a focused, resolute quiet.
