PART 1: THE GOLDEN HEIRESS / Chapter 3 / 4

PART 4: THE SUBTERRANEAN CORRIDORS OF RETRIBUTION

The subterranean holding cells beneath the federal courthouse were bitterly cold, smelling faintly of old concrete, industrial cleaning agents, and quiet despair. The long, narrow corridors echoed sharply with the heavy, metallic clatter of chains and the echoing footsteps of federal marshals escorting high-security prisoners toward the deepest cell blocks. Lucas was being marched down this very concrete tunnel, forced to confront the harsh, inescapable reality of his next decade and a half behind iron bars.

I had bypassed the media exit and walked down into the restricted corridor, waiting quietly for them near the corner under the harsh, flickering fluorescent lights.

As the small procession approached, Lucas caught sight of me standing there, impeccably dressed in my white suit, radiating a quiet, untouchable strength. He instinctively stumbled to a halt, the last remaining fragments of his fragile ego completely shattering under my gaze. His eyes met mine, no longer filled with the arrogant mockery or cruel superiority he used to wear like armor, but instead flooded with a profound, bitter, and nauseating regret. I didn't offer him a smile, nor did I show anger; I simply looked down at him with a chilling, absolute neutrality.

"You genuinely thought you could erase me, Lucas, didn't you?" I asked, my voice a calm, smooth whisper that somehow carried effortlessly through the sterile, concrete tunnel. "You truly believed you could steal my family’s multi-generational legacy, plunge me into debt, and bury my identity under your lies. But you made one fatal miscalculation: you forgot that true power isn't given by a corporate title, and true strength isn't something a tyrant can break."

Lucas opened his mouth, his lips trembling as he desperately searched for words, perhaps attempting to beg for mercy or weave another pathetic excuse. But before a single sound could escape his throat, a federal marshal firmly stepped between us, gripping his shoulder and shoving him forward toward the heavy steel cell door.

Clang!

The thick iron gate slammed shut with a definitive, ringing impact, permanently sealing the fallen corporate prince inside his cold, narrow cage.
