The Board Without Its Founder

Chapter 09 - The Board Without Its Founder
Vale Meridian’s emergency board meeting took place that evening.
Ethan attempted to chair it remotely.
The independent directors voted to suspend him first.
Sophia did not take his seat.
She nominated Grace Chen, the company’s operations director, as interim chief executive.
Helena called the move revenge.
Sophia replied, “Revenge would be putting myself above review.”
The board froze all transactions connected to Helena’s companies and rejected a proposed merger that would have moved the patents outside trust protection.
Employees feared collapse.
Victor authorized temporary funding on strict conditions: independent governance, worker protections, and public accounting.
He did not rescue Ethan’s empire.
He protected the people Ethan had placed beneath it.
Sophia’s shares remained in trust until after the criminal review.
