The Harbor Figures

Chapter 05 - The Harbor Figures
The Meridian Harbor acquisition involved a network of ports, warehouses, and cargo-data systems.
Publicly, Vale Crown described the purchase as a modernization project.
Olivia discovered a concealed appendix while cataloguing historical deeds connected to Bellgrave’s archive.
The appendix transferred decades of ship movements, customs information, medical shipments, and private freight records to a surveillance company controlled by Evelyn’s nephew.
Twenty-seven million dollars had already moved through consulting contracts.
The payments were disguised as environmental assessments.
Olivia requested an independent audit.
Evelyn refused.
Marcus accused his wife of interfering with decisions she did not understand.
At the acquisition dinner, Olivia asked one question in front of the committee:
“Why did a dormant company receive twenty-seven million dollars two weeks before incorporation?”
The room went silent.
Evelyn ended the meeting.

Marcus took Olivia to Bellgrave House under the pretense of discussing the matter privately.
The confession was already prepared.
