The Guardianship Hearing

Chapter 11 - The Guardianship Hearing
The probate courtroom had no chandeliers or rose gardens.
Sloane’s attorney argued that the livestream represented a stressful moment taken out of context. Dr. Mercer insisted Evelyn’s test results fluctuated and that public embarrassment temporarily improved her focus.
Dr. Hall testified that no accepted medical method supported his explanation.
The judge watched the complete stream.
Sloane’s voice filled the courtroom:
You’re a damaged relic.
Daniel will never believe you over me.
Tomorrow you’ll forget all of them.
No edit was required.
The guardianship petition collapsed under the weight of its own evidence.
The judge dismissed it and recognized Evelyn’s right to independent medical and financial decisions.
A protective order barred Sloane and Dr. Mercer from contacting her.
The court also referred the forged documents, medication records, and diverted trust funds to prosecutors.
Evelyn gave one statement outside.
