Amanda placed her wedding dress inside storage.
Media outlets offered money for photographs of it beside Sophie’s flower basket.
She refused.
The dress was not evidence.
The basket entered a sealed legal archive until appeals ended.
When it returned, Sophie chose to keep it.
She removed the false bottom that had hidden the recorder.
Then she filled the basket with art supplies.
Amanda asked whether seeing it was painful.
“Sometimes.”
“Do you want to throw it away?”

“No. It belongs to me now.”
