Sienna Tells The Whole Truth

Chapter 12 - Sienna Tells The Whole Truth
Sienna returned to the penthouse one week later under attorney supervision.
The flowers had been removed. The marble was spotless. The white sofa stood exactly where it had, which made the room feel dishonest. Spaces recover faster than people.
She came to identify messages on Grant’s abandoned tablet and collect one suitcase of personal belongings he had hidden in the guest room. Mara accompanied her. Lena chose to come too.
Sienna paused in the living room. “I thought you hated me.”
“I did,” Lena said. “Some of me still does.”
Sienna nodded. “That’s fair.”
Honesty made the room easier to breathe in.
They reviewed the message thread together. Grant had told Sienna the divorce was filed. He sent cropped documents, invented dates, and claimed Lena had threatened self-harm if he left. Sienna had responded with sympathy, then impatience, then plans for a shared apartment after Grant’s promotion.
There were also messages Sienna had not understood at the time. Grant asking her to arrange private access to shareholder files. Grant requesting talking points about “an unstable family member.” Grant sending her a forged version of Lena’s authorization.
“I helped him without knowing,” Sienna whispered.
“You also ignored things you wanted not to know,” Lena said.
Sienna cried quietly. “Yes.”
Lena did not comfort her. Accountability did not require cruelty, but neither did it require immediate tenderness.
Sienna signed a complete statement. In exchange, prosecutors considered her cooperation, not innocence. She resigned from Carter Holdings before the company could fire her.
At the elevator, she turned to Lena.
“When you called your father, I thought the story became about who you were.”
Lena looked at the marble where she had fallen.
“It became about who Grant was when he thought I was nobody.”
Sienna closed her eyes.
That was the truth neither wealth nor romance could soften.

He had chosen abuse because he believed she was not.
