Ellie chose to begin.
Her first attempt ended after six feet.
Her second ended in soft grass.
On the third, she completed the circle.
No crowd filmed.
No one turned her fear into inspiration.
Ethan watched from the fence.
Afterward, Ellie handed Jack the silver medal.
“You keep it.”
“It belongs to you.”
“It belonged to everyone who used it.”
Jack mounted both medals inside the workshop.
