The Man Without His Name

Chapter 06 - The Man Without His Name

Firefighters rescued one patient from the clinic basement.

He was badly dehydrated, heavily sedated, and registered under the name Adam Stone.

Jack recognized him immediately.

Cole Brennan had aged, but the tattoo of a small compass remained on his left wrist.

At the hospital, doctors found evidence of long-term medication that caused memory loss and confusion.

Cole woke briefly.

He looked at Jack.

“Wolf?”

It was the nickname he had used twenty years earlier.

Jack gripped his hand.

“You’re home.”

Cole remembered fragments.

The bridge.

Mara shouting.

A sheriff’s vehicle.

Then waking in a clinic where staff told him he caused the explosion and killed a family.

Vale used guilt and medication to control him.

Mara discovered he survived two years ago. She began visiting secretly, pretending to be a nurse.

Together, they planned to expose Vale.

The night Mara disappeared, she moved Cole out of the clinic. Someone intercepted them.

Cole escaped during the struggle but was recaptured.

Mara was taken elsewhere.

Cole remembered one phrase:

“Put her where her brother will never look.”

Jack knew dozens of places tied to his past.

The old repair shop.

The club cemetery.

Their childhood farm.

Rosa asked a different question.

“Where would Vale think you would never look?”

Jack stared at the Iron Hollow Bar on the map.

The basement had been sealed after a flood eleven years earlier—the same week Mara was declared dead.

They returned to the bar.

Behind the liquor storage wall, Amos found newer concrete.

A narrow tunnel ran beneath the building toward the old courthouse.

Vale had used the clubhouse as part of his network while convincing the bikers it was only their home.

At the end of the tunnel stood a locked room.

Inside was Mara’s red scarf.

She had been there recently.
