The Clinic Above the Coast

Chapter 07 - The Clinic Above the Coast

The coastal clinic operated under the name Seaview Neurological Institute.

It belonged to a holding company controlled by Victoria’s sister.

Investigators found Noah in a locked rehabilitation wing overlooking the ocean.

He was thinner, and a scar crossed his hairline, but he was alert.

When Daniel entered, Noah turned away.

“You signed the death declaration.”

Daniel stopped.

“I believed the Coast Guard report.”

“You believed Mom.”

Daniel had no defense.

He asked whether Noah wanted to see Elena.

Noah’s expression changed.

“She is here?”

“She never left.”

Elena entered only after the medical advocate confirmed Noah understood his choices.

For several seconds, neither moved.

Then Elena placed the ultrasound photograph on the table between them.

Noah looked at the image and began to cry.

“You’re pregnant.”

“Six months.”

“They told me you signed away the marriage.”

“They told me you died.”

Noah asked permission before touching her hand.

She said yes.

Their reunion contained relief, grief, and eight stolen months that no embrace could restore.

Victoria had used Noah’s injury to obtain an emergency medical guardianship.

Victor controlled his legal mail.

Clinic staff received false reports describing him as violent and delusional whenever he asked to leave.

Noah had recorded details on paper napkins, but staff removed them.

One therapist secretly saved several notes.

They confirmed Noah remembered the meal-fraud investigation from the beginning.

The clinic’s records also showed that Victoria planned to transfer him overseas two days after the baby’s expected birth.

Once the trust issue disappeared, Noah would have disappeared with it.
