After the examination, Amelia walked through the ballroom wearing the same red gown.
Guests moved aside.
Some looked ashamed.
Others lifted phones until security reminded them that medical privacy applied even during scandal.
Amelia collected her handbag.
Ethan stood near the staircase.
“Where are you going?”
“A property where you do not have access.”
“Amelia, we need to speak.”
“We will speak through counsel tonight.”
She walked through the front doors.
A black trust vehicle waited outside.
Before entering, she called Grace.
“Protect payroll first. Freeze executive bonuses. Preserve every employee email connected to Northstar.”
She did not call her father.
He had died years earlier.
She did not summon a more powerful man to replace Ethan.
The authority came from documents, governance, and her own decision to activate them.
