When Amelia activated the master ring, control of Royce Hall transferred to the trust’s independent emergency team.
No one was trapped.
The front doors remained open from the inside.
But document archives, elevators to private offices, and vehicle gates required authorization until evidence could be preserved.
Marcus Bell, director of independent security, entered the ballroom with two attorneys and a physician.
His hands remained visible.
“Mrs. Sterling, do you require medical attention?”
Amelia touched her cheek.
“Yes.”
The physician examined her in a side room while Naomi Bell served Helena and Celeste with evidence-preservation notices.
Ethan attempted to follow Amelia.
Marcus stopped him without touching him.
“She has requested separation.”
“I am her husband.”
“That does not override her request.”
The sentence landed harder than Ethan expected.
