The Second Patient File

Chapter 08 - The Second Patient File
White Quarry maintained two files for Emma.
The first was real.
It documented dehydration, bruising from restraint, and repeated requests to contact her daughter.
The second described delusions, aggression, and voluntary admission.
The false file contained future progress notes.
One scheduled Emma’s continued incapacity three months after the Northstar sale.
Another predicted she would accuse Derek of imprisonment.
The accusation had been classified as a symptom before she was allowed to make it.
Investigators found similar duplicate files for nine other wealthy patients involved in business or inheritance disputes.
White Quarry had closed publicly but continued operating privately through consulting agreements.
Families paid for “discreet stabilization.”
In practice, the clinic created the medical story required for whichever relative controlled the invoice.
