Ava entered court using a cane.
Tyler’s attorney asked whether she hated her brother.
“I am afraid of him.”
“That was not my question.”
“No. I do not organize the facts around whether I hate him.”
The attorney displayed childhood photographs.
Tyler teaching Ava to swim.
Tyler carrying her after a bicycle fall.
Tyler smiling beside Eleanor.
“He protected you once.”
“Yes.”
“He loved you.”
“Sometimes.”
“Then he did not plan to kill you.”
Ava looked toward the jury.
“Love does not make a balcony safer after someone chooses to push.”
She did not claim to know his exact desired outcome.
