Keller had shown Tyler a survivorship clause.
It stated that if Ava died within thirty days, her inheritance would pass to the nearest living descendant.
Tyler believed that meant him.
The page was false.
The authentic clause transferred the estate into a permanent public-benefit trust if Ava suffered suspicious harm. Tyler’s annual allowance would be suspended during investigation.
Keller created the replacement page using an old draft from Eleanor’s files.
He expected Tyler to pressure Ava into signing a transfer.
The push may not have been written into the plan, but the plan had made Ava’s death financially useful.
At the police station, Tyler said he never intended for her to fall.
The detective placed the false clause in front of him.
“You went onto the balcony believing you inherited if she died.”
“I wanted her to sign.”
“You disabled cameras.”
“To keep the argument private.”
“You blocked the door.”
