Harold visited Ava under police supervision.
He carried no flowers.
“I did not know Tyler would hurt you.”
Ava looked at him from the hospital bed.
“Did you know about the transfer?”
He hesitated.
“Yes.”
“The false survivorship page?”
“No.”
“The stolen foundation money?”
Harold sat down.
“I borrowed funds during a property crisis.”
“You created fake patient invoices.”
“We always intended to restore the money.”
“How much?”
He could not answer.
The audit showed Harold and Tyler diverted more than forty-one million dollars over eight years.
Some funded failing property investments.
Some purchased luxury cars, vacations, and Tyler’s private development company.
Harold called it preserving the family.
Ava called it stealing from patients.
