The Second Will

Chapter 03 - The Second Will
The first will was public.
It distributed personal property, established Tyler’s annual allowance, and named Ava sole beneficiary of the Sterling estate.
The second will was sealed inside the county court.
It could be opened only if Ava died, disappeared, became incapacitated under suspicious circumstances, or reported coercion within thirty days of Eleanor’s death.
Naomi Bell, the independent attorney named in the document, arrived at Ashcroft House while Ava was being transported.
She opened the sealed copy in front of police and two court witnesses.
Eleanor’s first instruction froze every estate account.
Her second suspended all family authority.
Her third ordered release of a private audit involving Tyler, Martin Keller, and Ava’s father, Harold Sterling.
Her recorded statement played in the library.
“I am not leaving everything to Ava because she is obedient. I am leaving it to her because she brought me records showing that the people closest to me were using my illness to steal from the foundation.”
Harold stood among the party guests.
He went pale.
Tyler looked down from the balcony.
