Charles Rowan Was Not Retired

Chapter 03 - Charles Rowan Was Not Retired
Charles Rowan restored antique engines in a rural workshop and drove a truck older than Damian.
That was the life he preferred.
It was not the limit of his authority.
Charles had co-founded Rowan Infrastructure Trust with Elise, his wife. The trust financed ports, urban housing, engineering research, and early-stage companies.
Vale Holdings began as one of those companies.
Damian believed his late father, Victor Vale, created the business with Beatrice.
The original ledger said otherwise.
Elise Rowan wrote the building-systems patents.
Rowan Trust supplied the capital.
Victor handled sales.
Beatrice managed accounts.
Vale Holdings was supposed to become an independent operating company after repaying its capital and preserving the founders’ ownership shares.
It never did.
After Elise was injured in a laboratory accident, Beatrice produced documents claiming the Rowans had sold their interests.
Charles challenged the transfer but lacked the original signature books.
Victor and Beatrice insisted the records were destroyed in a fire.
Elise’s health deteriorated.
Charles withdrew from public litigation to care for her and Clara.
