Damian’s Birth File

Chapter 05 - Damian’s Birth File
The most private folder on the drive contained hospital records from the night Damian was born.
His birth certificate named Beatrice and Victor Vale as his parents.
A sealed medical record named another mother.
Lydia Rowan.
Elise’s younger sister.
Lydia had worked briefly at Vale Holdings and disappeared after accusing Victor of manipulating company accounts. The family was told she moved abroad.
In truth, Lydia became pregnant during a relationship with Victor.
She gave birth to Damian and died from complications shortly afterward.
Beatrice adopted the infant privately.
The adoption itself was lawful.
The concealed beneficiary arrangement was not.
Lydia’s trust left any child of hers a protected interest in Rowan Infrastructure Trust. Beatrice and Victor never disclosed Damian’s identity because independent trustees would have controlled his inheritance until adulthood.
Instead, they raised him as the sole Vale heir and used Rowan-backed assets without supervision.
Damian read the hospital record twice.
“Beatrice is not my biological mother?”
“She is the mother who raised you,” Clara said. “The record does not erase that.”
Beatrice’s eyes filled with anger.
“Do not comfort him as though I am the criminal for loving a child.”

Charles spoke quietly.
“You are not accused because you raised him. You are accused because you hid his name to control what came with it.”
