The dinner had been presented as a family conversation.
It was a staged coercion.
Security footage from earlier that afternoon showed Beatrice placing the transfer papers beneath Clara’s plate.
Camille moved a decorative vase to block the nearest camera.
Damian practiced a speech in the hallway.
“You have benefited from this family long enough.”
Beatrice corrected him.
“Say fortune. Make her feel ungrateful for the fortune.”
The broken plate was not rehearsed.
That choice belonged to Damian.
But the pressure around it had been planned.
Beatrice expected Clara to sign after public humiliation.
If she refused, a family physician was waiting nearby with a report describing “grief-related paranoia” and an emergency incapacity recommendation.
The report referred to Clara’s obsession with hidden records inside the apartment.
