The court eventually recognized Nathan as Thomas Grant’s son.
His protected inheritance had grown modestly inside an unclaimed reserve.
It was far smaller than the empire he expected.
Most of Thomas’s assets supported public engineering schools and coastal safety projects after the deadline passed.
Nathan received what the will lawfully preserved.
Charles did not welcome him automatically into family governance.
“Recognition is not restoration of trust,” he said.
Nathan appealed from prison.
He lost.
