The Apartment Was Never Empty

Chapter 07 - The Apartment Was Never Empty
Margaret claimed she needed the river apartment because her current townhouse was unsafe.
The flash-drive records showed she owned three homes through shell companies.
One stood empty near the coast.
Another was leased to diplomats.
The third had been transferred using money taken from the Grant-backed Vale Employee Housing Fund.
The river apartment had another value.
Beneath it lay the archive room of Grant River Holdings. Its private elevator connected to the top-floor residence.
Whoever occupied the apartment could reach historical deeds and loan records without entering the main office.
Margaret did not want a view.
She wanted the archive.
Her planned renovation included removing the fireplace wall.
She had already hired a contractor through Nathan’s company.
The request for replacement deeds was designed to create a clean record before demolition.
Amelia’s refusal forced the family dinner confrontation.
