Vivian’s Husband’s Crimes

Chapter 09 - Vivian’s Husband’s Crimes

Edward Vance had died five years earlier in a private plane crash.

His death had elevated Vivian from daughter-in-law to acting family chair.

The red ledger showed Edward created the original shell companies.

Vivian managed contracts and legal threats.

Sebastian’s signature appeared on several approvals.

He remembered signing redevelopment summaries, not eviction schemes.

The supporting pages had been replaced.

Sebastian had not ordered the crimes.

He had created a system where his signature traveled farther than his attention.

That distinction mattered legally.

It did not erase responsibility.

He announced he would step down from every family board pending independent review.

Vivian laughed.

“Now you discover morality, when it costs you nothing but a chair?”

Sebastian answered, “It costs the story I told myself about my family.”

For the first time, he did not defend the Vance name before examining what had been done beneath it.
