The Rescue at Eastern Breakwater

Chapter 17 - The Rescue at Eastern Breakwater
Two years later, a storm struck faster than forecast.
A school sailing boat lost its mast near the eastern breakwater.
The navigation network failed after lightning hit the main tower.
No sabotage.
No conspiracy.
Only weather.
Captain Ortiz launched two rescue boats.
Nathan commanded one. Mia Torres, now eighteen, served as navigation officer.
Elias monitored engines from the station. Mara calculated drift. Caleb operated the restored mechanical beacons.
The team found the school boat within eleven minutes.
A frightened child had climbed onto the broken mast support and refused to move.
Nathan crossed in a safety line.
He did not order the child to be brave.
He explained each step and waited.
The rescue took longer than the television crew wanted.
It ended safely.
Afterward, a reporter asked Nathan whether the mission redeemed his family name.
“No,” he said. “It rescued six children.”
The answer became Grayhaven’s new measure of success.
