Malik Learns the Car

Chapter 17 - Malik Learns the Car

Aisha taught Malik how the Obsidian system worked.

Not how to drive fast.

How to test assumptions.

Every sensor compared multiple sources.

Every emergency command required a physical override.

Every important record existed in more than one place.

“Why so many backups?” Malik asked.

“Because powerful people often call truth a malfunction.”

Daniel taught him mechanical work.

They rebuilt a small electric kart in Eleanor’s garage.

Sometimes Daniel became too eager, offering expensive tools and complicated plans.

Malik preferred ordinary afternoons.

He wanted a father who remembered school pickup more than one who explained advanced batteries.

Daniel learned.

Aisha learned too.

She had survived by planning every danger. At home, she tried to control Malik’s routes, friends, and phone.

He reminded her:

“Safe is not silent.”

The phrase had traveled through three generations.

This time, the adults listened earlier.
