Julian’s Verdict

Chapter 13 - Julian’s Verdict
Julian faced a separate trial for fraud, coercion, falsified documents, and conspiracy.
His attorneys argued Vivian dominated him from childhood.
The jury saw messages showing Julian planning the timing of Emily’s humiliation.
They heard him predict she would cry and surrender.
They saw the false medical report he used despite suspecting it was fraudulent.
Julian testified.
He admitted choosing the company over Emily.
He said he believed losing Hartwell control would destroy thousands of lives.
The employee trust had already proved otherwise.
Hotels remained open.
Workers received restored pension contributions.
Only the family’s private authority had collapsed.
Julian was convicted and received a substantial sentence.
Before he was taken away, he looked toward Emily.
“I am sorry.”
She believed he felt regret.
She did not answer.
An apology could be truthful without becoming a bridge.
The marriage was annulled because it had been entered through fraud.
Emily kept neither the Hartwell surname nor the wedding ring.
