Lucas testified for two days.
The defense presented messages where he described Nora as secretive and emotional.
He accepted responsibility for them.
“You believed Celeste,” the attorney said.
“Yes.”
“Because she had protected you your entire life.”
“Yes.”
“Then her concerns appeared reasonable.”
“They appeared convenient.”
Lucas explained that his mother translated every difficult question into a simple story: Nora was unstable, ungrateful, or preparing betrayal.
He accepted the story because it protected his pride.
The attorney called him a disloyal son.
Lucas answered:
