The Ballroom Reopens

Chapter 17 - The Ballroom Reopens

The hotel closed the wedding ballroom for six months.

When it reopened, the aisle where Maisie ran became part of a training program for event staff and child-safety workers.

Maisie refused to display her dusty dress.

She refused to loop the footage of herself running.

“I was scared. That isn’t decoration.”

The exhibit showed a replica camera, the merger appendix, the false identity map, and the rights policy created afterward.

The original camera remained with Maisie and Claire.

Hotel security policies changed.

Unregistered children were not automatically treated as intruders based on clothing.

Staff assessed behavior, contacted advocates, and preserved safe exits.

Workers could challenge a wealthy client’s order without immediate dismissal.

The first wedding after reopening was small.

No charity children appeared as promotional symbols.

A flower girl became nervous near the aisle.

The coordinator waited.

No one forced her to perform.

The ceremony started five minutes late.

Nothing collapsed because a child’s comfort mattered more than a schedule.
