Maisie Develops the Final Frame

Chapter 19 - Maisie Develops the Final Frame
At eighteen, Maisie became legal owner of the camera archive.
Most files remained restricted because they contained children’s identities.
One undeveloped roll of film remained inside Claire’s old equipment case.
Maisie processed it in the community darkroom.
The final frame showed Claire on the ferry platform seven years earlier.
Daniel Reed stood beside her.
Behind them, Rosa watched the Hale vehicle.
Claire had set the timer before everything changed.
No one in the image knew how long the separation would last.
Maisie printed four copies.
One for Claire.
One for herself.
One for Rosa.
One for the independent archive.
She did not give a copy to Adrian automatically.
He asked whether he could see it.
May you like
Maisie showed him, then returned it to the envelope.
The family had learned that seeing a photograph did not create ownership of it.
