Her coat and travel bag were found on the lower deck.
Security footage showed her boarding but not leaving.
Police concluded she fell overboard during a storm.
No verified remains were recovered.
Adrian searched for nearly a year.
Then family attorney Victor Shaw presented a private report claiming Claire had been depressed, financially unstable, and involved with a married photographer.
Adrian accepted the explanation because continuing to doubt it became unbearable.
Claire was declared dead.
Her shares in Cole Media Foundation transferred temporarily to Adrian.
The foundation funded photography programs, school newspapers, and identity-document projects for children in foster care.
Three years later, Adrian met Vivienne Hale at a charity auction.
Her family operated residential centers and adoption services.
Vivienne proposed merging the two organizations after marriage.
She said Cole’s educational programs and Hale’s facilities belonged together.
The contract would create a four-billion-dollar children’s network.
The camera archive revealed another history.
Claire had never boarded the ferry voluntarily.
Photographs taken that night showed a Hale security vehicle parked beside the terminal.
Another image showed Victor Shaw entering a private medical transport van.
The ferry footage had been edited.
Claire survived because a deck worker saw her being moved and anonymously alerted Rosa Martinez.
Rosa intercepted the van at a clinic, helped Claire escape, and hid her.
But the Hales controlled medical records, guardianship courts, and several shelters.
Claire could not safely return while pregnant.
Maisie was born eight months after the ferry incident.
The father’s identity remained private in the archive.
Claire wrote only:
