What the Bride Saw

Chapter 04 - What the Bride Saw
The hotel’s corridor cameras showed Vivienne arriving four hours before the ceremony.
She entered the security office and handed the director a photograph of Maisie.
“If this child appears, do not let her near the ballroom.”
The director asked why.
Vivienne said Maisie had stolen private property from Hale House.
She never contacted police.
She wanted the child removed quietly.
The footage also showed Vivienne meeting Victor Shaw inside the bridal suite.
Victor carried a tablet containing the marriage merger.
He said:
“Once the register is signed, Claire’s evidence becomes property of the joint foundation.”
Vivienne replied:
“And the girl?”
“Her identity file is already under medical review.”
Maisie had never been evaluated by a Hale doctor.
Yet Dr. Paul Mercer had prepared a report describing her as delusional, aggressive, and unable to distinguish family stories from reality.
The report recommended emergency guardianship under Hale Children’s Renewal Center.
Vivienne claimed she believed the file was legitimate.
Ortiz played another audio clip.
Vivienne told Victor:
“Adrian can never see the camera. He will recognize the crescent.”
Vivienne closed her eyes.
She admitted Claire contacted her six months earlier.
Claire offered evidence in exchange for safe passage for herself and Maisie.
Vivienne told her mother, Evelyn Hale, instead.
Evelyn ordered Claire moved to Hale House.
Vivienne said she felt trapped between her family and Adrian.
Adrian listened without interrupting.
“You had six months to tell me.”
“I thought my mother would handle it legally.”
“You watched a child run toward me and tried to take the only proof she had.”
Vivienne began crying.
