Adrian canceled every wedding contract and closed Holloway Hall for review.
Sophie refused to return to the ballroom at first.
The place reminded her of Vanessa’s hand on the necklace and hundreds of adults watching.
Adrian sold the family’s private wedding business and transferred the hall into the new child-and-worker foundation.
The ballroom became a public meeting and advocacy center.
The raised wedding platform was removed.
Round tables replaced the long head table.
The North Archive remained protected beneath the building with access controlled by three independent custodians.
Adrian resigned as chair of the Holloway Children’s Trust.
He retained leadership of the hotel company temporarily under employee oversight.
Then he began reading every report Mara had sent before disappearing.
He found warnings he had ignored, meetings he skipped, and questions he handed to Victor.
His failure had not been lack of love.
It had been the belief that love allowed him to trust convenient people without checking what happened to the inconvenient ones.
Adrian entered therapy and family mediation.
He did not ask Mara to reassure him.
He did not ask Sophie to call him Uncle Adrian until she chose to.
