Madison’s Version

Chapter 13 - Madison’s Version

Madison pleaded guilty to conspiracy, forgery, and attempted financial exploitation in exchange for testimony against Conrad and Oliver.

Her statement was not simple.

She described growing up inside a family where every dinner conversation concerned debt, reputation, and rescue. Oliver told her children inherited both privilege and responsibility. By sixteen, she understood her marriage could become a corporate asset.

Then she met Sebastian and genuinely loved him.

Oliver treated that love as opportunity.

He showed Madison financial projections predicting thousands of families would suffer if Reed Development collapsed. Conrad assured her the Hale documents were legal corrections. He described Eleanor’s medication as ordinary care and Elena as a hostile trustee.

Madison began with denial.

Then convenience.

Then active participation.

She stole the car key.

She witnessed the false medical authority.

She recorded Sebastian’s signature.

She planned the timing of the wedding.

At sentencing, she did not say love made her innocent.

She said love made her lies easier to tell herself.

Sebastian submitted no statement asking for mercy or punishment.

He attended one day.

Madison looked at him across the courtroom.

“I am sorry.”

He believed she was.

He also believed separation remained necessary.

The judge ordered prison time, restitution, and permanent exclusion from fiduciary roles.

Outside, reporters asked Sebastian whether he forgave her.

“Forgiveness is not access,” he said.

The sentence came from Elena.

He credited her.
