The Bride In White

Chapter 04 - The Bride In White
Madison denied the video immediately.
“That is not what it sounds like.”
Her voice shook, but she kept her body angled toward Sebastian, as though Elena remained the threat.
Sebastian took the phone.
The recording continued.
Conrad’s voice described the sequence with legal precision. The marriage certificate would activate Sebastian’s accelerated shares. Hours later, a private physician would declare Eleanor temporarily incompetent. Sebastian would sign a management transfer without realizing that the attached schedule sold the lakefront medical campus to Reed Development.
Madison would receive forty percent through a hidden company.
The mansion land would secure the transaction.
Sebastian paused the video.
“Where was this recorded?”
Elena pointed toward the key fob.
“Your father’s car.”
Jonathan’s Aston Martin had remained in climate-controlled storage since his death. Its custom security system recorded the cabin whenever anyone used the emergency trust key. Conrad secretly removed the key from Elena’s office and kept it in his safe. Madison used the car twice for private meetings because she believed its old electronics were disconnected.
The vehicle uploaded every recording to Jonathan’s protected archive.
Elena discovered the files after the key system sent a security alert.
Madison began crying.
She said Conrad manipulated her. Her father’s company was failing. Thousands of jobs depended on the Hale land agreement. She only wanted to protect both families before Eleanor’s condition worsened.
From the sofa, Eleanor spoke.
“My condition?”
Everyone turned.
Madison looked frightened.
Eleanor had been told her recent fatigue and confusion came from dementia. Conrad arranged her physicians and moved her into a private residence after she fainted at a board meeting.
Elena had ordered independent blood tests that morning.
The results showed Eleanor had been receiving a sedative not listed in her medical plan.
Madison stepped backward.
“That has nothing to do with me.”
Elena opened another file.
The pharmacy payments came from a Reed Development subsidiary.
Sebastian looked at his grandmother, then at the bride beside him.

The white dress no longer resembled innocence.
It looked like part of the staging.
