The Criminal Case

Chapter 12 - The Criminal Case

Prosecutors charged Julian with coercion, unlawful confinement, assault, attempted fraud, evidence fabrication, and conspiracy.

Vivienne faced conspiracy, evidence tampering, and financial fraud charges.

Dr. Keller faced medical falsification, attempted unlawful sedation, and conspiracy to deprive Claire of legal capacity.

The case began with documents, not dramatic photographs.

The prewritten statement.

The altered building access log.

The future clinic notes.

The transaction appendices.

The ring audio.

Investigators found earlier recordings on Vivienne’s server. In one, Julian described an argument where Claire tried to leave the penthouse.

“She always reaches the door when she thinks she is winning,” he said.

Vivienne answered, “Then make the door part of the consequence.”

The prosecution used that sentence to explain the security restrictions.

Julian’s attorneys argued Claire remained free because no chain or physical barrier appeared on camera.

The elevator required his authorization.

The private stairs were alarmed.

Security stood between Claire and both exits.

Freedom did not require visible chains to disappear.

Claire testified for two days.

She described events precisely and refused exaggeration.

When asked whether Julian ever loved her, she said yes.

When asked whether happy years disproved coercion, she answered:

“A relationship can contain real love and still become a place where refusal is punished.”
