Julian’s First Public Defense

Chapter 09 - Julian’s First Public Defense
Julian held a press conference outside Voss Meridian headquarters.
He claimed Claire and her powerful father had staged the incident to seize the company.
He called the cord a ceremonial object.
He described Vivienne as a witness, not a mistress.
Then a reporter asked why the tablet listed Claire’s punishments.
Julian blamed Vivienne.
Another asked why his security team removed Claire’s phone.
He said she had threatened to leak confidential information.
Another asked why the incapacity report existed before the penthouse meeting.
He blamed Keller.
The self-made founder’s first defense was that everyone around him acted independently.
The ring recording disproved him.
His voice approved the camera angles.
His voice ordered the doors locked.
His voice said Claire’s signature mattered more than her explanation.
The board suspended Julian as chief executive.
Claire did not take his place.
She nominated operations director Grace Lin as interim CEO and submitted her own voting authority to temporary independent review.
“Why surrender your power when you are the victim?” a director asked.
“Because victimhood does not make governance competence automatic,” Claire said.
Grace took the chair.
The company continued operating the next morning.
Julian had told everyone his removal would cause collapse.
