The Sale in Singapore

Chapter 03 - The Sale in Singapore

Nathan had traveled to Singapore to finalize the largest transaction of his career.

Brooks Learning Network operated private schools, digital classrooms, and scholarship programs across fourteen countries.

A Singapore investment group offered four billion dollars for controlling interest.

Celeste encouraged the sale.

She said Nathan had spent too long carrying Amelia’s unfinished mission and deserved a new life.

The agreement included a clause merging the Amelia Brooks Scholarship Trust with a private education company called Crown Pathways.

Celeste’s brother owned Crown Pathways through shell corporations.

Nathan did not know that.

Family attorney Victor Shaw described the clause as administrative consolidation.

Nathan signed the preliminary approval without reading the full beneficiary appendix.

The final signature was scheduled for nine the next morning.

Had Nathan stayed in Singapore, the transfer would have happened before he saw Ava.

Ortiz contacted the regulatory team overseeing the sale.

They froze the closing.

Celeste’s attorneys arrived at the penthouse with an emergency guardianship petition.

It described Ava as emotionally unstable, destructive, and incapable of managing inherited property.

Celeste requested temporary authority over the child’s trust.

Nathan’s electronic signature appeared beneath a paragraph supporting the petition.

He had never approved it.

Victor Shaw claimed Nathan signed a family-protection package before the trip.

Nathan remembered placing his signature on a tablet while boarding the plane.

Victor had said it concerned medical travel consent.

A second document in the package allowed Celeste to become Ava’s guardian if Nathan was “unavailable because of international business obligations.”

The Singapore trip was not merely convenient.

It had been created as the window for taking Ava’s legal voice.

Nathan looked at the signature.

“I signed this.”

Ortiz answered carefully.

“You signed a device. The question is what was displayed and what was added.”

His carelessness did not make the forgery lawful.

It did reveal how easily he had allowed other people to place consequences beneath his name.
