Celeste’s Counterstory

Chapter 06 - Celeste’s Counterstory
Celeste held a press conference outside a private hotel.
She wore a white suit and no jewelry.
She described herself as a stepmother trying to protect a troubled child.
Edited penthouse footage showed Ava kneeling after the mirror shattered.
It did not include Celeste’s commands or the black crop in her hand.
She claimed Nathan returned angry from Singapore, misunderstood the scene, and allowed investigators to turn a family emergency into a corporate attack.
Then she released excerpts from Ava’s school file.
The records described lying, aggression, food refusal, and fixation on her dead mother.
Ava had never received those diagnoses.
The entries came from Dr. Paul Mercer, a behavioral consultant working for Crown Pathways.
He had never examined her in person.
Celeste scheduled short video calls disguised as tutoring assessments and used them to create a psychiatric history.
The same doctor supported the guardianship petition.
Ortiz obtained the raw smart-glass recording through a court filing.
The public heard Celeste order Ava to sign the statement.
They heard the mirror break.
They heard the child say her father did not know.
Celeste’s version collapsed.
She responded with a warning.
If the sale failed, Brooks Learning schools would close and thousands of teachers would lose jobs.
Nathan released the company audit.
Crown Pathways, not the schools, had created the financial crisis.
Private consulting fees and property purchases consumed the missing funds.
The schools could survive if executive contracts were canceled.

Celeste had spent years presenting herself as the bridge holding the network together.
The records showed she was the weight pulling it apart.
