Harbor House

Chapter 04 - Harbor House

Colonel Andrew Parker founded Harbor House after leaving the military.

He had watched injured service members return home to months of waiting lists, inaccessible housing, and paperwork that treated families as problems.

He built the first residence with donated labor and his own retirement savings.

Elena studied nonprofit finance and eventually became executive director.

Gabriel chose a different path after the Marines. He audited security and safety systems but refused a permanent leadership role in the foundation.

Their father had warned them against turning service into a family throne.

When Andrew died, the foundation shares went into a public-benefit trust managed by Elena until her first child was born.

At that moment, voting power would transfer permanently to a board of residents, employees, and veterans.

The Vales discovered the clause after Elena married Mason.

Mason’s investment company offered to modernize Harbor House properties.

At first, the partnership appeared successful.

New buildings opened.

Donations increased.

Richard joined the foundation board.

Then repair invoices doubled.

Contractors changed names every few months.

Elena began asking questions.

The forged transfer would have moved Harbor House land into Vale Urban Holdings one week before her baby’s birth.

After the transfer, the public-benefit trust would control only an empty organization.

Mason argued that Elena agreed to restructure the foundation.

She had agreed to discuss financing.

He converted discussion into consent through forged paperwork.

Gabriel examined the Harbor House security logs.

Someone had used Elena’s credentials to enter the foundation archive while she was at a prenatal appointment.

The user downloaded resident medical records, property deeds, and the original trust.

Access came from Mason’s penthouse office.
