They wanted the wealthy husband who returned in time to save his wife.
Caleb rejected the story.
“I returned after my wife had already preserved evidence and asked for help,” he said. “I also accepted false reports about her for weeks because they were convenient and professionally presented.”
Hart’s public-relations team urged him to remove that sentence.
He refused.
He temporarily stepped down as chief executive while investigators reviewed approvals issued through his office.
Some directors called it weakness.
Caleb answered that remaining powerful while demanding scrutiny of everyone else would repeat the family’s problem.
Grace Chen, the company’s operations leader, became interim CEO.
Maya watched the press conference from a secure apartment near the hospital.
She appreciated the honesty.
She did not treat it as repair.
