Adrian Vale’s Choice

Chapter 13 - Adrian Vale’s Choice

Adrian faced his own indictment.

Federal prosecutors offered leniency if he surrendered the remaining organization and testified against officials.

He accepted.

His lawyers warned that cooperation would destroy the Vale name.

Adrian looked at Leo.

“That may be the first useful thing I give him.”

He pleaded guilty to financial crimes and conspiracy charges connected to operations he controlled.

The court considered his cooperation, restitution plan, and the fact that he had stopped several violent schemes after inheriting power.

He received a sentence of eight years.

Sofia did not ask the judge for mercy.

Adrian did not want Leo to learn that love required pretending wrongdoing was smaller.

Before reporting to prison, he spent three weeks with his son.

They visited a park.

Built the red toy car again.

Ate pancakes at midnight.

Leo asked why Adrian had to leave after helping catch Victor.

“Because I did wrong things before I did the right ones.”

“Are you bad?”

“I made bad choices.”

“Will you come back?”

“Yes.”
