The Trust Hearing

Chapter 11 - The Trust Hearing
The original Hartwell Children’s Trust contained a protection clause.
If a child beneficiary were falsely declared dead, renamed, or placed under a financially interested guardian, control transferred permanently to a board of former foster youth, workers, educators, and independent auditors.
Grace’s case activated every condition.
Daniel could challenge the transfer.
He declined.
Some Hartwell relatives accused him of surrendering family property because of guilt.
Daniel answered:
“It was never family property if children’s identities were the price of keeping it.”
The new board included former residents of Rosewood, shelter workers, teachers, pediatric nurses, and financial experts.
Grace received personal education, healthcare, and housing security.
She did not inherit control of hospitals and children’s homes.
At sixteen, she could apply for a youth seat like anyone else.
The marriage merger disappeared.
Crowne Family Services lost appointment power.
Every facility opened its records to review.
The trust became slower and less polished.
