Vanessa’s Letter

Chapter 18 - Vanessa’s Letter

Five years into her sentence, Vanessa wrote Grace through a court-approved program.

Her first draft blamed Evelyn.

The program did not forward it.

The second named her own choices.

She admitted recognizing Grace before the wedding.

She admitted ordering Rosewood to move her.

She admitted believing that one frightened child was a reasonable price for the marriage and foundation she wanted.

Vanessa asked for no visit.

Grace read the letter at fourteen with a counselor.

She remembered the corridor differently from the camera.

The cold chain.

Vanessa’s perfume.

The sound of Daniel running.

She replied with one sentence:

Your honesty matters, but it does not give you access to me.

Vanessa later supplied account codes that recovered additional trust money.

The information helped children.
