Blackwood Manor Changes

Chapter 13 - Blackwood Manor Changes
Adrian moved out of Blackwood Manor.
The mansion had become evidence, then a symbol.
He proposed turning it into a public residential school.
Lillian objected.
“Children do not need to sleep inside the place where one child was hidden.”
Emma offered another idea.
The main house became a training center for teachers, child advocates, and nonprofit auditors. The service wing became a public archive documenting how respectable institutions concealed exploitation.
Emma’s small furnace room was preserved behind glass only after she approved.
The cot was removed.
The hidden letters remained.
A label read:
SHE ASKED TO RETURN TO SCHOOL. THE LETTERS WERE NEVER MAILED.
The marble hall stayed open.
The heavy mop entered the archive, but Emma refused to display it upright like a monument.
It lay flat.
“A tool isn’t evil,” she said. “The wrong person made it my job.”

The mansion’s luxury no longer controlled the story.
The smallest room did.
