The Woman in the Garden Video
Chapter 06 - The Woman in the Garden Video
The estate cameras showed a hooded woman entering through the garden before dawn.
She knew every blind spot.
She reached the nursery, remained for twelve minutes, and left a small object beneath the rocking chair.
Marcus recovered it.
A memory card contained recent footage of Beatrice meeting with foundation trustee Victor Shaw.
Victor controlled the Blackwood Children’s Fund whenever Adrian traveled.
The recordings showed blue trucks collecting donated equipment and delivering it to private resellers.
Lillian’s voice narrated the evidence.
She had spent years tracing the network while avoiding Beatrice.
Why had she not rescued Emma?
The answer came in the final clip.
Lillian spoke directly to the camera.
“Emma, I am sorry. Every time I approached, they moved you. When Beatrice brought you to the mansion, I believed Adrian had joined them. I needed proof before risking your life again.”
Adrian turned away from the screen.
His silence after Lillian’s disappearance had looked like guilt from the outside.
He had allowed Charles to control the investigation, protect the family name, and dismiss difficult questions.
Emma asked the social worker whether adults could be wrong and still love someone.
“Yes,” the woman said.
“Can love fix it?”
“No. Actions might repair some of it.”
Adrian heard the exchange.
He asked Emma whether she wanted him involved in finding Lillian.
“You already are,” she said. “Just don’t decide things without telling me.”

It was a condition, not trust.
He accepted it.
