Three years after the investigation, Emma saw a blue delivery truck outside her school.
Her body froze before her mind understood.
The truck belonged to a legitimate supply company.
Nothing dangerous happened.
Still, she could not enter class.
Lillian sat with her in the parking lot.
“You don’t have to prove you’re over it.”
Emma breathed slowly.
The driver opened the back and showed boxes of science equipment purchased by the education trust.
Emma recognized the labels that once disappeared from Blackwood Manor.
She helped carry one light box into school.
Not because anyone ordered her.
Because she chose to.
The class opened microscopes, circuit kits, and astronomy models.
Emma used a microscope first.
She looked at the structure of a leaf.
The blue truck remained outside.
By lunch, it had become a delivery vehicle again.
